Overview
Power Strike is a solo-developed multiplayer tactical FPS built in Unreal Engine 5, featuring multiple game modes and realistic weapon handling.
To streamline weapon production, I developed a custom automated integration system combining Editor Utility Widgets, Python, and Blueprints. It simplifies the process of adding new weapons while minimizing repetitive manual work.
Workflow
The process begins with asset preparation: weapon rigging using a predefined skeleton, Skeletal Mesh and magazine Static Mesh export, material setup, and socket configuration for muzzle flashes, shell ejection, and hand placement.
The integration tool allows users to select weapon assets, define the weapon category, configure additional parameters, and automatically identify the most suitable existing weapon as a donor.
For this demonstration, the system selects an existing M1911 pistol and reuses its configuration as the foundation for the new weapon.
Automation & Quality Control
The system performs automated checks, identifies missing elements such as sockets, and provides step-by-step instructions for the remaining manual tasks.
It also streamlines Animation Blueprint setup, validates that changes have been saved, and integrates Git version control to support recovery if something goes wrong.
In-Game Tuning & Polish
After integration, the weapon is tested and fine-tuned in-game. This includes damage, rate of fire, magazine capacity, hand grip, holster placement, alternative firing grip for left-side cover, and firing sounds.
The workflow supports rapid iteration, allowing adjustments to be evaluated immediately in gameplay.
Result
A reusable weapon integration pipeline that reduces repetitive setup work and makes expanding the arsenal faster and more consistent.
